The original Easyseat was conceived in 1980 and brought to market in late 1982. Initially in 1983 our first full year of selling the Easyseat we never thought of the medical implications, but simply that the conventional bicycle seats were painful to ride, particularly on long rides.

The cause of the pain was the horn or nose of the conventional seat. That horn presses on the male rider's perineum area causing pressure on the prostate. The rider's inner thighs press on the sides of the horn on the conventional bicycle seat which cuts the blood flow to the penile arteries causing, over a long period of time, possible impotency. Women are at risk as well, because the horn can cause vaginal nerve damage. So, no matter how many holes, "V" cutouts, lowered horns or higher seat pads are on your bicycle seat, if it has a horn, it is potentially dangerous.

When we applied for our utility and design patents we found that we were the first since the late 1890's to develop a two seat pad bicycle seat.

Many medical studies have been produced over the last ten years concluding the benefits of the Easyseats . One of those studies, click Medical page, concluded that a two seat pad bicycle seat allows the blood flow to the penile arteries to be the same as if the rider were in the supine ( sleeping ) position.

Engineers lead by Rodger Thomason of Origin Design Resource of Santa Monica, Ca. have developed two outstanding unisex bicycle seats. The completely re-designed Easyseat II is available for casual riders using city bikes, beach cruisers, ten speeds and stationery bikes etc.
